Kidderachi – Hip Hop Corner?

Hailing, from Liverpool but currently a North West London resident, I caught up with the talented hip-hop artist Kidderachi, to find out more about his talent and his aspirations....
Mo-Mo; So, who is Kidderachi and what are you about?

Kidderachi; Basically, I’m an artist that originates from Liverpool but now I live in North West London. I’ve been doing music for about four years now but It’s only in the last two years I would say I’ve been taking it seriously. Kidderachi is a brand, that is different to what everyone else is doing, I would say it’s easy to see.

Mo-Mo; Who or what inspired you to become an artist?

Kidderachi; I grew up in a black household, listening to a lot of Reggae, R&B, Bob Marley and all those types of genres. I feel like I have a taste for music, it’s almost like I kind of just fell into music.

Mo-Mo; As you were growing up you mentioned you listened to an array of genres of music, can we expect to hear Kidderachi on a variety of genres?

Kidderachi; Definitely, I’m really into Indie music. Eventually, I would like to introduce that into my career. Acoustic sets, all genres but I specialise in hip hop and R&B.

Mo-Mo; What artists do you listen to?

Kidderachi; I listen to a variety of artists from both the UK and the USA. Jay-Z is one of my favourite rappers, also Gucci Mane, Cam’Ron and artists like that. I listen to G-Frsh, Euro-Gang. All the usual suspects really.

Mo-Mo; Who haven’t you worked with and would love to?

Kidderachi; To be honest, (laughs), I’d really love to work with Alicia Keys, (laughs), in or out of the studio, either or, I’m really not too fussy. I’d like to work with artists like Calvin Harris and Mr. Hudson, I’m into the Indie, electro genres.

Mo-Mo; What’s your opinion on the music scene at the moment?

Kidderachi; I think the music scene is good, to be honest, i think the urban music scene is growing. If you was following the scene about three years ago, you would of saw how the scene was moving slower compared to how it is now. You can see the growth compared from then to now.

Mo-Mo; Do you think it’s easier for an artist from London compared to an artist from out of London?

Kidderachi; London is the capital of the UK, everything happens here. For me, personally, i’m originally from Liverpool so i can understand from both sides. But, there are artists in Liverpool that have done their thing and are now known in London and have collaborated with Wiley and those people. I think it’s to do with your work ethic rather than where you are or from. If you’re a hard worker then it will pay off.

Mo-Mo; What differentiates Kidderachi from other artists?

Kidderachi; The music that I make and my outlook on the way that I feel music should be presented is one thing, everything i’m bringing to the game is different, my music and my image. I feel like there isn’t another artist in the game like me.

Mo-Mo; So what can we expect from Kidderachi for the rest of 2010?

Kidderachi; At the moment i’m working on ‘Aura Flu’, which will be my second mixtape. I released my first mixtape, ‘Swag Flu’ in December last year, so i’ve been promoting that and doing a lot of videos to coincide. ‘Aura Flu’ is coming early 2011, and it features artists like; Black The Ripper, Klashnekoff, Bdubble, Blade, Femfel and all the usual suspects from the UK Rap scene.

Mo-Mo; Where and how can supporters get in touch with you?

Kidderachi; They can follow me on Twitter, www.twitter.com/kidderachi but i do have Myspace too, (laughs), even though nobody really uses it anymore, www.myspace.com/kayo99 and by typing my name into Youtube, ‘Kidderachi’ or ‘Kayo’. To be honest, they can find me on all the social networking websites.

Mo-Mo; Thank you for taking time out to do this interview

It seems that not only is the UK Grime scene looking exciting but so is the UK hip-hop and Rap scene. With amazing collaborations on various mixtapes, progressive music videos and with amazing performances, Kidderachi is definitely an artist to be keeping your eyes peeled for.
