Local Caribbean Features In Directory....

Local Caribbean restaurant, 'Carib Grill', were recently featured in the Moseley Directory for their outstanding delicious food. Amy Watson wrote about her experience, check out the article below!!

"A new flavour for Moseley

And what a flavour! The latest addition to the Moseley restaurant scene,
Carib Grill, brings an added diversity to the dining out choice available and the
food is utterly delicious.

I love Caribbean food so was really looking forward to reviewing the food at the
newly opened Carib Grill. Located smack bang in the middle of Moseley right on the crossroads Carib Grill is hard to miss with its bright red frontage. And when you step inside the atmosphere is cheerful with lively background music and Caribbean flags on all walls so you are immediately spirited away to a different place.
We were met with a warm welcome from the owner/manager Clyde who runs this family restaurant with his wife and son. Carib Grill is licensed so we didn’t go through our usual rigmarole of forgetting wine and having to pop out to the off licence. And on the menu there are a few beers from various Caribbean islands as well as a good choice of wines.

We decided to wash our food down with a light and fresh bottle of Red Stripe each. The food menu is small but perfectly formed with those dishes that we all associate with the Caribbean as well as some more unusual choices. To begin with we shared the Combo which gives you a little taste of lots of the starters. We had Chicken Wings, Chicken Lollipops, Bajan Fish Cakes, Savoury Carib Patties and Crab Claws all delicately arranged around a dish of home-made mama’s barbecue sauce. What a start to a meal, each dish was more tasty than the last and the barbecue sauce was to die for. This starter really got our mouths tingling - exciting our taste-buds not burning them away! Then for our main course we went for the traditional Curried Goat with rice - a favourite from the Islands slow cooked to allow the spices and herbs to really season into the meat, giving an explosion of flavours.

This is the spiciest dish on the menu which is just fine for my husband. He loved it and ate every morsel. I had a quarter Flame Grilled Jerk Chicken - marinated in Carib Grill’s own secret recipe Jerk Sauce which makes the rich flavours reach to the middle of the meat. This was roasted and flame grilled to retain all the flavours and came with a choice of two side orders. I chose to have rice and peas (how could I not) and a mixed leaf salad. This meal was so delicious I don't know how to put it into words! I only wish I had chosen the half chicken - which I will do next time!

The upside of having room left is that I could sample the delights of the pudding menu. The Banana Flambeau was recommended to me so that is what I had and mmmm mmmm so sweet and tasty.

We were just thinking it was probably time to go home and relieve the babysitter when Clyde brought us a tot of something special to finish
off our meal in style. Red Label Wine has a lovely, but surprising flavour which is a bit like amaretto. It is a fortified wine with a real kick to it, just like everything about Carib Grill.
We had a most enjoyable evening eating absolutely wonderful food. We will definitely be making this one of our regular places to eat. The food is sourced fresh and there are some great vegetarian choices on the menu as well as a fish of the day dish. All of the meat is halal and all of the sauces and marinades are made from scratch.

Children are welcome and so are people who prefer their food not so spicy. Just ask and the chefs will turn down the heat if need be. Carib Grill also provides outside catering for parties and events, and offers a takeaway service when they are not too busy in the restaurant.
